Thinking about RRS V6 or V8? Any advice welcome

Hi all, my trusty D2 will eventually need to be replaced and am thinking a 2010 RRS and wonder if the Diesel V6 is good enough or to go with the Diesel V8.

Why 2010? I think the interior looks cleaner and I like the press start button. Also, the engines have more power.

...Or does anyone have any good reason to look at a pre-2010 model other than a big $$$ saving?

    Any advice welcome.

The diesel V6 is plenty good enough for anything you're ever likely to want to do with one of these vehicles - you'll get a real surprise driving one of these after being used to a D2.

But the V8 diesel is very nice. Given the choice, I'd probably opt for the V8.
    Cheers .........

Just check out history/reliability of any 2010 TDV8. I think I saw Firefox's car at 4wd dealer in Brisbane. You would want perfect history to consider them.

I know a couple of people who have them, with no complaints at all.

    Thanks for the feedback.
Other than saving $, are the pre-2010 models worth looking at. Seems a pre-2010 v8 diesel has the same torque as a post-2010 V6. Money is always an issue be tight.
Also my guess about reliability would place the RRS same as a D4, is that a reasonable assumption?

I'd think the service costs for the V8 would be more,, JC commented something a while back,

    You have to ask yourself-
    whats better than 600NM?

(but I think we all know the answer to that)

The tdv8 doesn't have a timing belt change at 160k km. The sequential turbo 3.0 tdv6 is probably a more advanced design. You just need to ensure the turbo drain issue is fixed. I think it was a dealer fix done free.

The earlier tdv6 2.7 has the advantage of being able to accept standard 18" (and possibly 17") wheels and tyres.

The 2010 has a bigger more powerful motor, nicer interior, nicer style front. and more advanced terrain response system.

Did they still do the diesel in the update when they changed to the SDV6 engine and did a full interior remake as i was under the impression they stopped the V8 diesel when they changed the interior?

They did a few V8s with the new interior in 2010, but discontinued it. I had the SDV6 new in 2010, a friend got a V8 with the same interior from late 2009.
