So how do we feel about a big hole in the inlet manifold? I feel sick.
I’ve heard of a cracked manifold. I’ve read about one owner doing a DIY repair.

This is a big hole about 1" square. Maybe cracked manifolds end up as a hole if they're not found in time.
That’s bad. I’ve never heard of that. I think a crack will put it into limp mode.

Hole in manifold turned out to be BIGGER than I first thought when everything was moved out of the way.

New manifold from England was cheaper than a second hand one from here in Australia. (Go figure) Only problem was the 2 week delay. Luckily we have a couple of other cars to choose from. My wife has a BMW X5 TD (oldy but a goody) and I have a Saab Convertible (cheap toy).
I went to see Mick today and he showed me the EGR and it's easy to see why the manifold was burnt. The EGR itself was only 1/2 there.

The engine has no death rattles so we're thinking the offending bit either burnt out over time or passed out through the burnt hole in the manifold.
Mick's made a couple of blanking plates....

.......which will be used plus the emulators and hopefully "Bob's your auntie's live in lover."
He'll be working on it over the weekend so with any luck I'll have it back next week and I can report the results.
Wish me luck.
WOW !
Thats a hole , was it a sudden loss of performance or over time ?
As that looks almost like and im/explosion ?
Obviously , NOT a "speed hole " !!!
