I also have a p38 and am considering the upgrade. I hammer my P38 off road, and still love driving on the black stuff. However I am thinking of doing significant work to my p38 including but not limited to, underbody protection, lift on airbags, rear bar work, exhaust system, possibly an LPG conversion, rear lockers etc... The list is long or rather than spend that on an older car do I buy a newer one and up grade that??

Any pointers would be great to help know what to look out for on the L322, what models to look out for? What years were there changes? What engine is best...

For off road... What is the smallest wheel that can fit over the enormous disk brakes. And what is the largest tyre that can fit in the arches. Has anyone had any luck with a snorkel and/or bull bar, winch?

There is more stuff for the P38 than the L322 at the moment as far as accessories go. A decent bull bar is still not available for the L322. A snorkel can be done, but you would be modifying something to fit - probably a D3 unit, there is a member here that has done that. Tyre wise, I think 18's are the mallets I'm you can run, but here are tyre option out there for these rims - check out this thread - Photo's of my 322 with its new muddies to see what an L322 looks like with muddies on - pretty damn good.

As to what to look out for, look at the earlier posts here. The L322 is very capable off road straight out the box, even with road tyres on it. I have been astonished where mine will go on 20" highway tyres.. The traction control and hill decent are awesome. It makes you very lazy when off road as all you need to do is point and shoot so to speak.

If you buy one, I doubt you would regret it.

Saw a L322 yesterday on LPG with a supercharged badge.

Dark blue in colour with Mickey Thompson STZ 275 x 55 x 20's on RR rims.

    Looked & sounded nice.
    Cheers
