    l322 early and late gearboxes

Is an auto box from a late model L322 any stronger than the earlier ones? If so are they interchangeable? Jim

Late 04+ Td6 autos have a different part number, no one is sure what upgrades from the 5L50E were incorporated. BUT reading UK and local reports they are definitely not having the same problems so far, even with similar mileage to when the earlier boxes failed. There is a thread about this; if you do a search.

07 MY onwards have the ZF 6 speed auto which is much stronger than the 5 speed auto. Not interchangeable without major engineering works.
