Afternoon all,
Before I start on my next Project.....has anyone mounted their UHF aerial through the back tailgate and onto a mounting point at the rear drivers side?
I am thinking of mounting my new UHF (gee they are small these days - 100mmx95mmx24mm) in the drivers side rear cubby space / fuse box, powered by the second battery mounted in the 2nd battery well so its always powered if I want it. Easy (I think?!) to run the aerial out the back from there via tailgate, roof channel to where I have a GME aerial mount affixed - see in the photo.
The UHF handset (combined speaker / mic in one) has an optional extension lead (4m!) to run from the unit in the rear, under the floor, to the handset at the steering wheel (well somehwere up front anyway).
Will post more photos once complete.
(the brass fitting came with my Rhino Racks and screws into factory mounting point - holds the GME mount in place perfectly)

All done - nice and neat fit with aerial out through wiper grommet to (currently) cross bar at rear; will relocate to a new ali bracket that bolts to rhino "foot" (which stays on car permanently) and mic to front with extension lead.
Works a treat!
Microphone fitted and LED strip lighting in the boot too.
Try again (!)
