Jeez, you're not mucking around are you?. A whole interior upgrade - nice work. Can't wait to see the final result.
Today i sanded back the damaged foundry finish on the side and center panels and sprayed them in gloss black like they are in the Vouge and similar to the parts from powerful UK.
Few tips:
1. To get rid of the foundry finish lightly sand (dry 240), then use general purpose thinners to soften and then scrape the paint away. You could sand it but it takes ages and in hind sight i think if you just peel up an edge and use a razor blade to peel away the foundry finish it would be quicker.
2. When you use primer make sure you use a plastic primmer (for the flex) and lightly sand (wet 800). If there are any blemishes or scratches use a body filler after your base coat and re sand (I had scratches around my HDC and Low range control)
3. For the paint I used gloss black enamel as opposed to two pack as I do not have a spray gun and it removes the pressure of getting a gloss out of the can. Where as enamel I can just polish to a shine after if the finish is not good enough off the can.
4. Install.
I will say though and again in hindsight if you are going to use enamel make sure it is going to be installed with in a week as the paint is a bit more forgiving to felx then after a week when it is fully cured.
the photos are of the progress so far the under coat went on perfect and the gloss black is perfect just a shame it was night time in the photo. I will test its durability after a few days. If it is not durable i may just bite the bullet and get them done professionally in two pack or get a compressor and spray gun. If all else fails i will wrap them in one of those mats you can buy from super cheap auto
Next is the door surrounds, wish me luck.

Thanks Man,
From wo to go it took me about 2 months. Including shipping times, I would say if I had everything and was going to do it again it would take me 4 days total work.
The D3 seems to be made of more harder plastics if that makes sense. The RR was really easy to recon tbh.. Materials took to the finish really well and I am impressed with the durability of the finishes so far.
Looks good
More pictures & info on what you have done to the top of the centre console . Please
Are you talking about the center console lid or the shifter cover?
The lid is standard accept that it has hollowed out section underneath which has a Bluetooth module inside it which you can tap with your phone to connect and play music. The shifter cover is warped in gloss black wrap from ebay.
Hi Jonathon,
Looks like you have done a great job on the trim.
Could you give me a bit of advice on removing the front door trim. I have just sourced a complete trim panel from US to replace the distorted arm rest on mine. It looks like I have to replace the whole panel as the arm rest seems to be sealed onto the panel. I particularly want to avoid problems with the airbag. Are there some detailed instructions somewhere ? or can you give me a few tips ?
thanks in advance.
Peter
