I’ve been waiting for some elecy bits to arrive so I can get a working condenser fan before we muck around with the AC – that’s now sorted – have fitted a standard off the shelf 16inch DC fan and have it controlled by the ECU. I got sick of looking for a reasonable priced factory fan that would probably last 5 minutes anyway.... They are 1400 from the dealer!!

Had a friendly AC man visit my house yesterday, he sucked the refrigerant out, we replaced the receiver/drier desiccant cartridge (follow RAVE, easy 10 min job). He then deep vacuumed the system; it happily stayed off the end of the scale on his fancy gauges for over 5 minutes - which he says tells him there’s no leak and boils off any moisture. - “if it’s leaking it’s a bloody small one”.

Followed the instructions on the can of gloop and now time will tell....

We can get the reading from the pressure sensor with IID. When the car is off, the high and low sides equalise so that readout will give me an indication over time without needing to open a service valve. Just need to factor in temperature when the reading is taken.
