I now know what you mean after reading your reply. Yes, service history with a TdV8 is a biggy, especially considering parts and repair prices. My misunderstanding sorry I thought you were against re-tunes on this motor.

I bought a 2007 vogue tdv8 with 200,000ks almost two years ago, has now done 225,000.

Before purchasing I did some research and spoke to the land rover dealer service guys whom I know. They said owners of TDV8s don't sell them as very little goes wrong. And one Owner at that time had racked up over 400,000 and going strong.

I had to replace intercooler hoses and at 220,000 ks the gearbox oil was replaced for the first time as i started to notice juttering up hill at 1800 rpm. Problem fixed though I believe they now recommend to change the oil every 50,000 ks.

I don't know the service history, but oil comes out smooth. I understand the engine oil recommended was specifically designed for the motor and I wouldn't use anything else, cannot be found on the shelf and had to order it through supercheap at $300 for 20 litres.

Great car wouldn't drive anything else.

Well done mate! I'm loving my '08, just such a nice vehicle to get about in.

Speaking of such, I had my father's 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee last week while he was away. When I purchased my TDV8 I had the option of either the RR or a new Jeep. I'm glad I went for the RR, even though it cost me slightly more. The Jeep would have to be the best value new 4x4 on the market but the older TDV8 is just nicer to get about in.

Always fancied a Cherokee. Must have been around '84 they came out. Ended up with a well used Wagooneer. First time I took it on the freeway the right rear wheel and axle came off and over took me on the inside!
