How long does the shaft need to be?

I also need a higher hitching point for a camping trailer, and so need a new insert.

Years ago I made a HD tipping box trailer with std RR 16"mags, axles, disc brakes, etc and it ended up needing high tow ball. This matched the then LSE.
For the L322, I used the "std" one upside down, by drilling another hole thru the solid shaft, so it cleared the bumper, etc.
    I don't have a problem with tailgate/tow hitch.
