    Air suspension inactive

    Hi Guys
Just driving home from Sydney airport after leaving my Rangy there for a couple of days
Noticed a knocking sound coming from the front passenger side, about 6 kms later the air suspention inactive signal and chime comes on.
Tested the wheel nuts and all tight.
Anyone out there have a list of fixes I can try out, before I get it towed to Santa....
    Cheers Paul.

It should still drive fine, suspension will be locked on normal road height unless you have done an air bag.

    Air strut

Had a poke around today and the passenger side front air strut is completly deflated.
I have two rusty struts that have been lying in the garden for 5 years that have only done 20,000.Not sure which side is which
Part no RNB 000750 and RNB 000740
I dont really have a lot of choice, I cant get another new strut at a reasonable price untill the new year.
Can anyone give me a heads up on fitting the one I have, I really need the car over christmas...
Its already deflated does this mean I dont have to depressurise the system ?

Strut failed completely ? or airbag deflated ? Airbag can be replaced fairly cheaply and not too hard ! There are videos on Youtube etc

    740 is R/HS, 750 is L/HS

    Air strut

    Hi Laurie
Changed the strut over and the replacement wont inflate.
Checked both shocks whilst they were off and no holes or spongyness on either
Did notice that the airline had been rubbing against the air bag. A squeaking sound has come from that area for years, do you think the air line has rubbed through against the air bag ?
All the rest of the car, and the three other airbags are pumped up and seem to be operating as they should, also cant hear any hissing.
The knocking sound I heard was the deflated shock banging around inside the airbag......i'm assuming.....
Can you buy from the dealer the airline for that side with the nuts attached, also where is the valve that it fits into, I think I saw somewhere that its on the drivers side behind the front wheel ?

    Air Suspension

Managed to get the Rangy onto a diagnostic, it cleared faults and suspension came back up, it stays up for a short period then goes down, then back up...and so on
I dont think the air strut or the one I removed has a leak, no hissing when I stop and its still up the next morning.
    I'm baffled !!!!!
Unfortunately I cant get it into a mechanic untill 5 Jan......
I have looked at the air set up and noticed there are solonoids for the front and the rear

Anyone know if these are a common failure ??

    Cheers Paul

When I first bought my L322, at the Melbourne dealer's yard front left strut had no pressure in it and as we were to drive back Qld next day, had a front strut replaced and faults cleared. It worked trip home, then same-- no pressure.
I put my Faultmate on and it didn't at first pick up fault, but eventually found faulty valve/solenoid in the main block, in front of the air tank. Obviously worked intermittently.
S/H one from UK fixed all.

    Air Suspension solonoid

    Hi Don
Is that the solonoid that is behind the front wheel arch cover, on the drivers side.?
Any problems with fitting it ?

Mine was main valve block mounted in front of the air reservoir tank; the balance valve block behind front wheel wasn't the problem.
While waiting for the part to arrive i was able to level up the car with Faultmate/RHF air in and balance valve block open and close, but it "drifted" off level a little once driving.

While I was changing that valve block, I fitted 4 "tyre valves" under bonnet , connected to each airline at that block, via push on T's, for emergency inflation. Touch wood, havn't had to use any yet. Now want to mount a compressor there as well so to be independent of servos.

Of course, there was nothing wrong with the airbag/strut, now under the house as spare.
