Just a little envious right now....
Glad the car is going well. Sounds like you have a good setup
Have spent a few days of sand driving at Stradbroke Island with tyres at 18 psi and absolutely no issues in a mix of really soft sand, rugged tracks and of course some flat hard beach driving. Used low range at beach entry and exit but never even looked like a problem. Really impressed. Oh and 8 speed auto and over 800nm of torque (care of a Roo Systems twin 3 inch exhaust plus Ecu remap) make for pretty easy driving!

I took the tdv8 L322 for a Moreton trip a few weeks ago. Reduced tyre pressures to 19-20 psi on 19" wheels. Set the TR to sand & turned off the DSC. I never engaged low range. This thing bubbled around the island with seemingly little effort.
I went with the BIL who was in a NP Pajero. It's a great allrounder of a vehicle. I seriously looked at getting a Paj. However there was one uphill sand track where the Paj couldn't do it, just keep digging itself in. The FFRR just bubbled up in high range without any fuss. I really don't know why the FFRR had better traction than the Paj, but the fun of that moment will live on for years. I'll make sure of it.
The tyres are conti 4x4 contacts at the end of their life. It has the standard 640nm/200kw motor - plenty for me after years driving the turbo perentie (which is also pretty good).
L322 tdv8 poverty pack - wow

Yes, it has:
- UHF
 - redarc brakes
 - redarc isolator, 2nd battery in rear floor compartment
 - Drifta fridge box, with slide, mounted on a floor that is same size as the spare wheel cover; bolted to 4 factory tie down points
 - spare wheel is then not accessible unless you unbolt floor ofcourse! (I will just put both spares on roof when we head on expeditions).
 - Racks are three x Rhino cross bars; ARB awning mounts to these.

Looking at Pioneer platform rack using existing feet for expeditions - although LR Expo Rack is tempting as it sits so low and suspect I can make it quieter (add some rubber at front).
Picked up our 2nd hand Bushtracker (2004) caravan yesterday (will start new post re fuel economy towing).
CSBrisie, do I have this right......you have 285/50R20 fitted to your RR with no modifications? My car looks to be the twin of yours and I need new tyres. Was going for 265/50R20 but if you got 285's on there, I'm having them!

Yep, spot on. I was suprised but they fit fine, no rubbing - and were great at 18psi on deep soft sand at Stradbroke Island (guess the T/C / Terrain resposne helps a tad lol!!) and towing the HEAVY BT last weekend too.
I know another Member here had 275/55/20's Cooper Discoverer on his MY08RRV TDV8 (before later swapping to 18's) but that then requires some mods to inner wheel wells. I figured the extra sidewall gained (not much) wasnt worth the effort.
the BIG test for these tyres will be our Trip planned across from Brisbane to Alice and back on the Donoaghue and Plenty Highways in June. I am very nervous about towing 3 plus tonnes on that road with these tyres. We will have three spares with us (two on roof one in florr) and I actually have an extra rim and tyre at home with a mate in case its a disaster and we need one freighted to Alice; Then it will be a LONG trip home via the bitumen....
cheers
CSBrisie,
if you dont mind me asking, who did you buy the Coopers from?
