So ive been sick of the suction cup holders for a while and im sick of the phon flopping around the cabin when im off road and near vertical...so I came up with bolting it to the dash board!
much easier than I originally anticipated too, I got a $10 charging phone dock to suit my HTC off eBay, pop riveted a piece of stainless off cut, and then simply bolted it to the original dash bolt hole.
Power turned out to be much easier to source too, I kind of fluked it but it worked. Pulled the top speaker cover off, fed the cable down, to the left side of the head unit, pulled the passenger foot well cover off the inner edge and jiggled the cable (Even i thought this was a long shot) and 2 seconds later the usb cable was touching the floor! for now i just have it going back to the usb socket but ill buy a usb power plug and hard wire it tonight.
