How did you know the battery was fully charged on Saturday? Did you measure it and find it above 12.5V?

If you haven't got a tester (multimeter) how are you measuring the 12.1 volts? If the battery is as low as 12.1V and the battery light is on, the alternator is not working, regardless of any other testing that may be done.

It looks like you have a tester so what was the voltage when the engine was running and the battery light was on? That is the important voltage to determine the state of the charging system and as others have said it should be around 14V.

the alternator died on mine at about 240k. Just started it up one day in the car park after work and light was on - I have volt meters wired in the back and it showed something like 12.2-12.4. I have about a 40 minute drive home and with headlights on (at night) I only got about half way before it started konking out, and that's with a jumper lead bypassing the dual battery thingo in the back in order to get a bit out of the second battery.

The car stops running at about 11.7.

I had all sorts of faults for almost everything showing up.......

Lucky for me replacing the alternator and clearing faults fixed all my issues, so I hope yours is as simple as that...

Well I found out that it was a faulty fuse.
It had a hairline crack, where you would think by looking at it that it was fine, the crack was up the top,not in the middle.

Put new fuse in and all good.

Cant complain about that for a cheap and simple fix to a potentially hard expensive problem!
