    TD6 MID stereo question

Hi folks, does anyone know if the MID stereo (no touch screen) fitted to my 2003 TD6 has separate amplifiers anywhere? I've had issues with water leaks in the vicinity of the passenger A pillar seeming to trigger loud noises in the door speakers- so much so that a bass driver in the driver's door is poling (coil is delaminated) and now needs replacing. I have intermittent low-level hash coming from the rear passenger speaker too, and am concerned that stray voltage might harm the stereo itself. Are the speakers driven by the stereo in the dash itself or an amp/amps somewhere else?

Also, how on earth do I clear the sunroof drain holes? I've tried pushing whippersnipper cord down from the top to no avail, couldn't get it past the first corner.

Thanks mate, glad that worked out for you. I've seen numerous warnings not to do it on our vehicles because it can blow the lines apart, presumably at the joins- so I'm not game to try. I'd imagine it'd be a nightmare to get them together again.

Thought: maybe that's what's happened to my car in the past?

There may be an amp in the back passenger side compartment - opposite the back fuse panel. The sub and sub amp live in there for those models that have those, but I'm pretty sure there is an amp in there for the MID system - my L322 isn't here at the moment so I can't check, but I'm pretty sure I've seen one in there....

There is only the amp at passenger side rear, in cargo bay area.
It's possible the speakers themselves have been wet? Could cause the paper of the speaker to disintergrate and garble the sound.
I've had that happen on RR Classics.

That's certainly possible, but there's also a continual low-level grumbling sound from the rear passenger door speaker. Sounds like a bad capacitor in the amp- which I have confirmed is actually in the passenger rear as suggested, much to my surprise!
