TDV8 experience here. I have towed a big "offroad" caravan (would be in that weight range) about 1500 km. No unusual issues to report. The ball weight would be getting up towards 300kg. Certainly don't notice any body movement.
Hi
Just after a bit of info regarding ffrr towing performance. Mostly td6 models and mostly heavy weights around 2.5 to 3t. Is there any degree of vibration or flexing through the vehicle from the drawbar? For example with 200kg on the ball and no WDH, is there any shunting or flex transmitted through the vehicle?
Thanks ☺

Have towed a 21 foot Bushtracker (up to 3.5t loaded up with water tanks) over 10000km and no issues. Faultless.![]()

Only time I towed with mine was a tiny 12' van of the Inlaws - which resulted in a $7K transmission rebuild...
Haven't had the guts to ever tow with it since...![]()

😕😕😕 i remember that. 😠.
'Test' drove a 2004 Vogue td6 for 100km today and swmbo and i are convinced a ffrr is our next tow/touring rig. Either an immaculate td6 or a reasonably good tdv8. The dmax has proven a fantastic vehicle in all ways but comfort. Driver and passngr comfort even with substantial suspension upgrades is just really non existent. I even contemplared a full air rear susp conversion with d2 trailing arms and panhard rod etc however there is the flexible chassis to take into account and non design point loads etc so a vehicle change it is 😕. Plus the better half really really m8sses her Rangie ☺☺☺.

Having discussion with trans specialist about bulletproofing the 5l40e shortly . from what i have read they can be made to take 500+Nm which imo is plenty enough for my uses . Of course the tdv8 is the most sought after however i may not be able to afford a good example 😕
