    ONLY A MATTER OF TIME

Well had to happen one day .With almost 250 thou on the clock decided to book the rangie in for a gearbox flush and service, after the missus reported down shifts had started to be a little notchy.Have been a bit of trans fluid leaking for a while, not much but a bit. Took it for a run this morning and found a little bit of clunking on downshift if you looked for it but very slight. Booked it into BOR week after next and this afternoon suddenly no drive ! No messages on dash ,no drive in manual either.Suspected low fluid but was advised not to top up with synthetic fluid just to get home .So tow job tomorrow or sunday depending on weather.Assuming clutch pack has gone but the way my luck is going lately all i'll probably be able to re use is the sheepskin seat covers. NOT HAPPY JAN !!!

    What model is yours?

My tdv8 went at about 245k km but that was from a worn output shaft. It's going great now. I was lucky to pick up a good used box and transfer box.

Mmm. I know your pain. I'm guessing there are murmurs about why you bought it. Mine sat there for a while until I had the funds to fix it.

On the positive side there now seems to be reasonable repair solutions out there.

    Feel for you RangieTragic.

Mine was starting to get a bit notchy so booked it into Furious soon as.That was 2 years ago now. No problems since the rebuild.

Ring Rhys @ Furious to see what he did to strengthen the TC.

    Good luck with it.

    cheers

Haven't got it home yet, still where I left it will bring it home tonight but.Checked it this morning ,have drive again but don't know for how long. Thinking of trying to drive it home until it stops and towing the rest of the way .Distance of about 12 kays. Maybe do more damage?

B O R rang back today ,just needed a bit of fluid, yeah right ,like that would happen! As I thought box stuffed. They found a factory rebuilt box ,only one in oz at the moment with I year unlimited ks warranty. So i'll run with that. Now looks like i'll have to sell my stage one v8 project to pay for I bit of this gold plated box.Chris at BOR says the rangie is in above average condition for age and kays so worth keeping. Think i'll just go and have a cry now.Bye

At least the transmission will be good for a long while. That's a major risk taken care of.
