    That's another good use for the IID tool. I didn't have mine back then. It's good to have that done, so should be good for at least 100,000km.

    So the whining noise was definitely the alternator complaining it wasn't happy anymore.
    The alternator sits below the item I posted in the first photo. So that's where the noise would have been coming from.
    Yes good advice. Did you keep the old one? Could get it refurbished and keep as a spare.
