If memory serves; on that side . I would check the drive belt for signs that the A/C compressor has had a clutch/bearing failure; also maybe bearing failure on your idler pulley's. The rubber smell could be your drive belt burning due to frictionThe A/C compressor can seize causing many problems. rar110 has his go on a TdV8, there is comment in another thread about the havoc it created
