    3.6 vs 4.4 Diesel

    Gday All,

I understand from all I have read the 4.4 seems to be the bees knees , and I went and looked at a car advertised as a 4.4 but was really a 3.6 . I still think at the price its not bad buying but at 180,000ks but realistically what am I looking at in the 3.6 engine in regards to work at that many kms- belts, turbos, etc etc.

I am not to stressed about the electrics etc as that is a given no matter what engine but I just feel this is on the cheap side, so wonder what is wrong with it, or due in the near future . its an 2010 autobiography which I think I could get for $30k and seems neat and tidy but with some service history missing.

    Hi Bulletman
Was that the Blue one in Mossman ? If so, I have a copy of the buildsheet if you want it. As you said it was advertised as 2010 MY11 , but as soon as I saw the gearstick I realised it was a 3.6 TdVv8, also a lot of the options mentioned are not included ! It looks like a good thing but I would have a thorough pre-purchase inspection done. Service history if missing could be a concern though.

High mileage is ok, relative to servicing, rar110 here has a high mileage L322 and would be the best source regarding upkeep.

Gday Laurie , no this car is in Darwin , but doing some more looking I am not convinced its even an Autobiography , think it has just had a few things added to it to dress it up. Has interstate plates which worries me a bit as well.
If you have a build sheet of 1 that would be good as then I can get an idea of what to compare this 1 too. Can you PM or do you need a email address.

    Cheers Bulletman

Has it got a leather roof liner with 2 rear courtesy lights and mirrors ? That's a Autobiography trademark unavailable as an option . If you have the VIN number I can check it and send you a copy.

If you checkout the Blue Autobiography on Carsales; in the pictures showing the sunroof, you can clearly see the 2 rear courtesy mirror compartments!
