Is this for a TD6?
On occasion when I have been unable to to get either genuine or a MAHLE/KNECHT filter cartridge I have been tempted to use an unbranded (British parts own filter being one brand and Ryco another).
What I found was that on the occasion that I used a BP filter (have not had to resort to a Ryco), I found that I thought it took slightly lomger for the oil light to go off if the vehicle had been standing.
I figured that perhaps the oil had drained back into the engine from the filter quicker than usual than when using genuine or OEM filters.
Recently had to accept a Ryco cartridge (just in case my ordered filters did not arrive in time).
I attach pics of "O" ring on end of Ryco and Knecht end to end. Ryco being on the left.
The "O" ring on the Ryco is a smaller dimension in Diameter and thickness than the "O" ring on the Knecht, so likely would not give as good a seal and perhaps oil might drain back down faster.
The actual moulding of the plastic on the Knecht filter also appears smoother/better moulded.
I found that British Parts own filters (which were wrongly supplied to me), also had smaller "O" rings than genuine filters.
Seems not all filters are created equal, no matter what they tell you.
