    Reset airbag light

    Hi all,

I had to replace the drivers door lock assembly on my 2003 L322 TD6. Doing this required removal of the door airbag, and while testing the electrics with airbag disconnected triggered the airbag light. Is there any way to reset without going to dealer?

    Thanks,

    Charles

Charles is the light still on after you re-connected the air-bag ? Did you check fuses ? You could try a re-set by taking the key out, wait 30 mins and disconnect battery. Airbags have a capacitor, in case of battery low power or failure. Normally I won't play with them, they have killed a few mechanics and others; remember the Takata airbag crisis ? No joy with the reset then it's off to get the codes read and cleared.

Very likely you’ll need a diagnostic computer to clear the problem. If you lived nearby, I could do it for you. I have a T4 (Testbook).

You need a GAP IID Tool. See my PM.

Thanks Laurie, none of that resets the light. I am mighty careful around airbags and disconnected battery and left the (+)ve and (-)ve cables connected overnight to facilitate capacitor discharge before removing. I realise the problem was powering up the vehicle with the airbag disconnected when I was testing the lock actuation.
    Cheers, Charles
