Don't know if your situation requires a Diesel but you might be better with a petrol engine. 
I don't know of really any diesel that likes chugging around at low engine loads. But with a quick search pre 2008 diesel don't seam the have a DPF.
As a diesel mechanic (mostly marine) I prefer petrol myself, so much cheaper in the long term. Much cheaper parts and easier to work on.
