I just rang the parts department of the dealer selling the car.

Parts dept couldn't help - and referred me to Land Rover Australia

Land Rover Australia couldn't help - they referred to me Whereis/Sensis

Whereis/Sensis couldn’t help - they referred me back to LandRover Australia

Whereis/Sensis said that they produced the data, but it was up to each car manufacturer to provide the disks for the relevant Sat Navs.

It appears that data is readily available for 2005 onwards - but no-one is answering the question of MY2003.

Whereis/Sensis suggested that I find out the make/model of the actual unit used in the SatNav and then depending on that, the disk may be available.

Does anyone know the make and model of the actual SatNav unit in this vehicle?

The car is not that old - and it seems rediculous to think that a map update may not be available for a car costing more than many new cars. Especially when it forms so much a part of the dash display etc.

Any help much appreciated.

Just a wild possibility.
Seeing BMW owned Rover at the time, do you have any mates with a BMW disc. Or try a dealer on a try and buy if successful.
I would bet the disc from BMW would be pricey, as Audi charge $1000 according to a friend who owns one.

Hi Alan I just bought the update disc V15 it retails about $300.

I spoke with whereis last week, and now that I have the actual disk/cover, I am hopeful of resolving it through them. Looks like if I can get the right one, it will cost $269.

G'day Alan,

Could you check what type of system you have in your car, by removing the disk and noting what is written on the label, I suspect it will be a Denso system for genuine LR, if so then the Denso update disk will defiantly work in your car however it costs $395 and the Land Rover update disk L322 V15 at $295 would also work.

Note - a Denso disk will not work in a VDO Dayton system or vice versa
