Last night I drove back from Perth and a chime kepted sounding and a message came up on the dash every time the outside temp dropped below 3 degree's.What does that mean?.I averaged 8.9ltrs per hundred at 100km/hr and 9.1ltrs at 120,all up with city driving it averaged 9ltrs per hundred. Pat
EXT TEMP +3 and a little chime, came up quite a few times, lucky the heater works. It was a long day, left Kal at 2am and got home at 10pm. Pat
Maybe it is an ice warning.
That may not be as silly as it sounds. Pat
I didn't think it sounded silly, that is why I suggested it.![]()
That’s exactly what it is, a warning of the low outside temperature as this may mean ice on the road.
I’m not sure it’s a problem in this country as I have never come across icy roads, plenty of snow but never struck ice.
Anyone else come across icy roads in Oz
Yes ice warning chime, most euro cars have it with combination of dash lights flashing. My Daughter struck ice last year near Mt Tambourine QLD (Gold Coast)result one Barina to the wreckers.
Regular problem in Victoria - the Calder Hwy near Woodend has special sensors & warning lights.

Chuck
Plenty of ice on the roads around Orange/Bathurst in winter. I struck that "strange chime" the other night in my recent L322 and that's what bought me on here. Thanks to all for the explanation.
