Thread: 2004 radio upgrade

I’ve installed one of these in the Mrs’ VW Golf, it’s brilliant.
I looked recently at installing one in a 2003/4 L322 (thinking of upgrading) but there are a few issues. Mainly: the standard stereo unit does more than just In Car Entertainment; it interfaces with other onboard systems, so those functions have to be managed.

The Stereo displays trip,fuel ect data - what else does it do? I didn't put that much time into it but it is not going to be easy.

Have now had Eclipse Avn726EA media centre installed.Looks great,works great.Lost cd stacker.Am still able to use all controls .Install done by Northfield Redcliffe if any one is interested.

Interesting to hear about your upgrade. How about the trip computer, clock functions, etc that the original head unit controlled?
Could you post a picture of your upgraded dash?
I tried an Intravee to get iPod connection, replacing the CD stacker - didn't work with the MID head unit and was an enormously frustrating waste of time trying to get it to work.
