So what makes a winch on a bar different from a hidden winch behind an ADR compliant OE bumper? Both will have around the same reaction to crush tube activation of the frontal protection system?

I have one and am trying to sort out engineering approval to make it legal before I fit it.

Was trawling through the google search results about D5 winch mounts after reading the article about the Germon Police D5s and found this:

Wildbear Discovery 5 discreet winch mount LS7834 | eBay

Interestingly though, I cant find any reference to it on the actual Wildbear 4x4 website

    D5 Winch

My cradle is from WildBear, imported through Rovacraft, both have been excellent. It comes as a kit with a second battery tray to bring the power source forward. Lucky8 in the USA do their own winch cradle, and take the power directly from the jumper points under the bonnet.
My hurdle now is that there is no ADR or EU certification so I am trying to work my way through the process to get it engineer approved. The construction is very solid and I should be able to get the welding and powder coating data, but ADR 69 that deals with frontal impact is the other aspect that needs to be addressed.

I have found a friendly engineer at the Gold Coast but I am in Brisbane so going backwards and forwards with the front off is going to be difficult.

I wonder why they don't sell this.

Hi Ron, since I’m chasing engineering info, if Land Rover have designed the chassis to take a winch tray, I would love any other pictures or install info.

The other alternative is letting me know how to access a workshop manual.

    Thanks

The workshop manual is available on Topix but you need a subscription to access it.

Do you mind if I ask what the cost delivered was?

I am also curious of the legalities.

I thought as long as it didn't protrude from the front of the vehicle, it was ok ?

Sketchy ground otherwise, is a second battery compliant ? Engine bay compressor ?

As long as you don't compromise the airbag sensors when fitting.

I am only surmising? Nobody gets a cert for a winch fit in a bar.

    Will follow...
