How long did you guys wait for your D5 after ordering it

    Cheers!
It took my car a month to get from the build date to it being on a boat (UK built), about 6 weeks to get here and another 2 weeks from arriving at Port Kembla to delivery. Chances are yours is on a boat now, ask the dealer what ship it is on so you can track it.

This tyre thing is doing my head in...

I have now decided to go with Nitto Terra Grapplers in 275/55R20. I have found a tyre dealer who will do a trade in on the OEM tyres so I will drive straight from the dealer to them. I thought of getting a set of Ridge Grapplers in the same size but LT. Problem is they are 4 or 5 kilos heavier, each!

I also want to get a set of rubber floor and cargo area mats. Any suggestions? Dealer or aftermarket?

I'll leave off buying the roof rails until I actually need them, I think. That will be around April next year.

The sparkie has an antenna mount which clamps on the back edge of the bonnet. I'm not sure how it will handle corrugations, though. I have a mate who runs a sheet metal business so I will see if he can fabricate one to put on a bolt somewhere. Same for a sand flag.

I have stripped the old car back to stock so it will be ready to hand over at delivery.

    Cheers

Are there any tricks/traps to running an auxiliary battery in a D5?

I have a 125 Ah lithium battery in a battery box with a DC-DC charger. In my current car I simply has a 6B&S cable from the starter battery which I connected to the alternator input on the DC-DC charger.

I am assuming that this will work on the D5, but I thought I would ask...

Numb Thumbs. Try a Laser on glass aerial. I believe they were developed for situations like police cars where they want them concealed.
I have one on my rear window (I did have it on the windscreen but after two broken screens I put the new aerial on the rear). Works very well and means you don’t have a whip aerial in your face.
I also have a heavy duty rubber Land Rover D5 cargo mat for sale, although I’m in Sydney and it’s probably a bit heavy and bulky to send to Melbourne.

Go the Falken Wildpeaks over the Nittos. So much better grip on wet tar.

PS Already stripped the old car back to original!, within 24 hours of signing the order.
And now you have got a heap of Misc stuff all over the floor waiting on a new home & wondering why the hell you carried so much stuff that never or seldom was used.

When I delivered my D1 V8 to the Dealers as a trade in & I had already gone through this exercise & I started to wonder why I was getting shot of her as it really drove much, much better. Then I remembered the real reasons.

ie. A possible 10 grand out of pocket in possible repairs for a 24 year olde vehicle if it all went tits up, & high fuel prices.

Have you drivien on both? The tyre dealers seem to think they are pretty similar, but the Wildpeaks are noticably noisier.

Were the Nittos the original version or the supposedly improved TG2? I haven't used either but a brother didn't think much of his original version in 265/50R20 (IIRC).

Do the Wildpeaks have full depth voids? The Pirelli AT+ do.

The Nittos are the Terra Grappler G2. They are 117T rated and 19.65 kilos each. The Falkens are 21.8 kg each and the same 117T rating. The Pirellis are 113T rated. No idea on weight - couldn't find it.
