yes and no. A turbo was replaced, then the engine, only to find it was a leaking inlet manifold. No cost to me but 14 weeks off the road due to incompetence of the dealer and jlr in the UK.

That aside, my issue with the SD4 is it was too small an engine for the D5. A lot of turbo lag off the line but once going it was sweet as.

I never towed with it but I doubt it would be a good tow vehicle.

The local Indi here said not to go near one, which goes along with the reviews.
No wonder it was eventually dropped in D5 and Defender.

    Thanks gents for your insights.
Nephews missus drives a VW Multivan,he said it was a 2019 model and he said it fits the kids easily(has 3 and another due in couple months).
I said to him not to touch the D5 because of the donk in it.Told him to look for another Multivan for the kids until they get older(Oldest is only 4), then he can get trade in one of the Multivans on another vehicle of his choosing that will handle the kids better.

    cheers

The multivan i think only gets the vw 4 in two states of tune. Same issue in my mind, a 4 pot 2 litre pushing a big vehicle. The D3 can be got with a 3 litre 6.

My 3 litre Touareg is a dream to drive and very economical with it.

Yes the touareg is a very nice vehicle BUT it doesnt come with 7 seats which is a requirement for his family.
Plus the van is cheaper to buy as well.
