I had a problem when upgraded to an iPhone 8 from a 6 in my 2014 RRS, 2011 D4 and wife’s Freelander. This was using Bluetooth. Intermittent connection when making and receiving calls. My old iPhone 6 and daughters IPhone 7 worked fine. After much frustration and a replacement IPhone 8(free from Apple) I just recently traced it to the phone case/protector. Removing the case solved it. Strange that the older phones had the same case. I can only put it down to the iPhone8 having a different arial which the case interfered with.
Just taken delivery of MY19 RRS where the problem is still there but to a much lesser extent. Removing the case removes any trouble completley.
2022 Defender D250 S being set up for touring.

I drive a Skoda, and use an iPhone, and have had issues in the past. As mentioned in a previous post - I found that:

Using Apple Carplay had issues so I no longer use it, I ONLY use Bluetooth- which seems to work a lot better.

Even with Bluetooth - sometimes the phone drops out and won’t connect.

To fix it I have to re-pair the Bluetooth connection (about once every 3 months)

One time the iPhone wouldn’t connect no matter what I did. RANGE ROVER SPORT 2017 MEDIA MODULE ISSUES

I drove around for days - resetting the phone, deleting the BT connection on the phone and the car. Nothing would fix it.

That one time I reset the car back to factory defaults (losing all settings, which wasn’t much) and then paired the phone and off I went..

I realise that I drive a Skoda and not a Rangie but I hope the above helps.

I have used iPhone 6, 8 and now the latest XR - without any software updates on my Skoda BUT only using Bluetooth not Apple CarPlay

    Cheers,
    GG

Thanks very much for this info. I’ll try taking off the cover and see if that helps. The issue extends to the car not downloading all of my contacts or music and the voice control not working properly as well. I did try an android but that seemed to work although I did my try it for an extended period of time. Appreciate your feedback.

thanks GG for your reply. I don’t use carplay only Bluetooth. It sounds as though this issue isn’t related only to RR! I guess with so much technology it leaves us open to many more issues. I still stand by my original argument with Land Rover that a six figure car should have had all of this worked out! Appreciate your reply.

    Red face

Hi Sean thanks for your reply. I don’t use the cable, only Bluetooth. The tech mechanic at landrover tried his android and it seemed to work fine but we didn’t try it for an extended period of time. Another iPhone didn’t work fully either. They’ve said there may be another software upgrade to try but I’ve told them that if they can’t fix it I want a refund or another solution as with a six figure car this shouldn’t be happening. That’ll be a fun argument! Cheers and thanks for your ideas.
