    Gear selector Button

    This is the 50cent part that cost someone that race victory---
    There is a spring loaded switch that activates the gear selection solenoid,
    the point on the end of that arm pushes that switch down,

    and sometimes.... breaks off.

    we were pretty lucky, it happened inside Wagga Showground at the moment of selecting drive to unhitch. The car is totally immobile.

    This is such a CHEAP DUM piece of engineering.

    sure you can buy a kit from LR, but in Wagga? on a Friday afternoon?
    and the kit just gives you another CHEAP DUM plastic part, ready to break.


    oh and to access that cheap dum plastic part you need a No 8 TORX screwdriver. Pick one of those up anywhere.. right?!
    the pic below is an ebay replacement.. first thing this morning will be attempting the split-pin hack..

    Don't say I didn't warn you!
    Don't replace it, reinforce it with some wire and epoxy. No waiting for parts and no excessive price. Only bad thing is you don't get the new cover with fresh double sided tape.
    Often a small flat blade drive will remove a Torx just need to be careful with your sizing.

    Looks just like Pedro's but I used wire that I had lying about and epoxy to keep it in place.

    hows TINY for sizing??

    a ONE mm allen key will fit inside,, a 1.5 wont...
