    Rear Vision Mirror Repair

Unfortunately the LH side mirror on our MY22 RRS has had an argument with a parked delivery truck, and I’m hoping someone can give me guidance on a way forward. The mirror glass itself is fine, and electrically everything seems to be working normally – blind spot, indicator, mirror fold, light, surround camera system. The Cover is gone, so I’ll need a new one of those, and the clear plastic side flasher is cracked.

What is concerning me is the mirror adjustment motor has broken off the pedestal it was screwed onto – see photo. The motor is also retained by three lugs on the same base, but I’m not sure I’d trust trying to glue the piece back on, as the screw provides positive retention.

As far as I can tell, the piece holding the motor doesn’t have a separate part number, and is supplied as part of the mirror assembly. It would be unfortunate to have to purchase the complete mirror assembly because of that one broken component.

I’m thinking maybe I can add a small plate behind the motor support piece, and fix the motor with a longer screw, but welcome any suggestions.

Superglue can be significantly strengthened by adding bi carb. Should be okay, particularly if you start with a quality glue from a manufacturer such as loctite.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

That’s essentially what Rapidfix is. Only cheaper. Should work.

Interesting. So is that then something similar to Q-Bond (I may have some of that somewhere in the workshop?).

Where have I been? I hadn't come across Rapidfix before. I'll check that out as well.
    Thanks.

If it says "cyanoacrylate" then it is basically superglue. Though some are better than others. Rapidfix 8401 is quite good.

Sets with the absence of air, so needs to be a firm fit.
