    Transmission re-map

Just had a Cambo transmission re-map done on the beast. Great result. Much smoother changes, always in the right gear, drops in to top gear much earlier and kicks down much quicker giving instant power when needed.
Works as described by Cameron. Haven't tried it with the caravan on yet but looking forward to it. Highly recommend it if your thinking about it.

I've been accustomed to using my 4.4 TDV8's willingness to pull well at low revs even with the van attached. However having noticed the reports of far too many 4.4 SDV8s slipping big-end shells and then finding that the oil pressure specs are very low, I wouldn't be surprised if the engines shouldn't be worked at low revs especially where oil dilution could be an issue. I'll be fitting an oil pressure gauge to mine in the next week or 2 to monitor the pressure lower in the rev range but in the meantime I'm manually dropping a gear on hills.
A gearbox remap that keeps revs up a little could be on the horizon for mine.
