Easter Intake Plenum / EGR Pipe Clean

First up what a nasty dirty job !!

Its a simple job but very dirty
    4.4l TDV8 with 83,000kms 2019 version -

I know there are pictures on the net for this but here are a few more - Im seriously going to look at some software solutions I think.... THis just cant be health for engine longevity.

    Hers a few pics

    1. Throttle body
    2. EGR outlet pipe inset the intake donut
    3. gunky S*it right at the start of the intake donut
    4. nasty cleaning job
    4. Clean throttle body

I put some plastic bags over each of the donut openings and filled it up with diesel and let it soak overnight - dont wear a good shirt or expect to go to work the next day with clean fingernails!

Anecdotally the car performs better - or it might just be psychosomatic Im not sure - but I do feel better about not having such a dirty intake system - I did make the mistake of looking in toto the intake manifolds and there are a bit dirty in there too - but very difficult to clean.

Personally I think well worth it for engine longevity.

    Regards

    Steve

A job I am not looking forward too, but one that makes you happy afterwards.

Bet it’s not done during a paid service

Geez, you're giving your car a work over. Recent GBox flush and now this. As you said it's gotto be good for the life of the car. I've got to get my gearbox serviced but don't have the kit to do it properly, as you described in a recent post. I do know an ex MR Auto guy who's good and pretty reasonable. I don't think Mr Average is considering taking on the work you do. Good on you.

    Cheers,

    Kev.
