They are probably referring to extended off-road height which the car will do if it thinks it is on it's belly - but you cannot manually select it

The specs were referring to "access mode" which lowers the air suspension by 50mm for ease of access.
There is also a high mode which can be selected manually on a switch but is over-ridden if speeds get too high.
Extended mode is automatic. But no-one is talking about that.

This basic scheme hasn't changed between my 93 classic with EAS and a MY12 RRS.

Chances are it has an extended height so if you get stuck and bottom out like a D3/4 has, if that's the case then hopefully a Llams kit will plug in and then give access to the extra height at the turn of a switch.
    Cheers,
    Terry

Maybe they were referring to the point that you can use 'Access Mode' to trick the suspension into going into extended height?

Which isn't completely automatic in a D4 .... it automatically raises, but has some more height in the bag of tricks if manually selected, once auto is engaged.

Guess we'll have to wait and see. Even now, after D4's being on the road since 2009, Journo's still get it wrong ... so what chance have the guys in a brand new car got?

    Huh?
Access mode is lower. Not higher. It is mentioned in the specs in reference to lowering the height of the vehicle.

This isn't a journo article. This is on landrovers site.

    Heh Dougal,

You can put something under the car (or a naturally occurring rock on a track), drop the car down, and when it grounds, the car detects this and then rises to extended height....and you can then hold the brake and select the offroad height button and it goes to super extended height, so essentially it is being tricked.

This might be in context what he was taking about.

Anyone care to guess the price point?

Would be great if it wasn't that much more than he current freelander however i can see it climbing up will into the reaches of 90K plus for the luxury with some of the option boxes ticked.

I reckon you are right I anticipate the top end Disco Sport will be about on par with a 'base' model RR Evoque.

LR is positioning itself as a premium brand... in case it had escaped anyone's attention !
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

I was referring to the specs that were linked. In d4 specs it outlines of all (selectable) heights. In the linked specs for the disco sport it mentions normal and access hights but nothing about offroad hight, so I'm wondering if they will include an offroad hight or not? If not, i wonder if they will include a "help me I'm stuck" extended mode. If so, surely rods or Liam's could be used to "trick" it and get more control over the eas.

Regarding price I think I read it was about a 4k pound increase on outgoing freelander. My guess is about is the base model will have nothing and be about $5-6k increase and top of the range will be "sky is the limit"
