SupporterHas anyone found out what platform this is based on or whether it is something completely new? The mechanicals look pretty similar to the FPace, with longitudinal mounted engine and the same engine choices. Much nicer body though in my opinion, which looks like a scaled down Range Rover Sport.
Doesn't appear to be a low range option but a rear ediff is available standard on some models and optional on others and it does have TR2 amongst the many goodies available.

Bob, from what I understand it is a completely new platform. I think this gives a bit more perspective on where they are going with trim levels on Range Rover vs Discovery. The new Discovery has move up to the current RR trim and the next generation of Range Rovers will follow this one and beyond.Originally Posted by BobD

Bring on the new Defender - hopefully, while being new with all the mod cons that go along with that, it will be practical.

Bob, looks like you are spot on, It seems it does share is platform with the Jaguar F-Pace platform (Jaguar iQ[AI] (D7a)). Not sure of what the Land Rover model ID is ("L" code).

AT RESTIt seems Range Rover has now has become a brand? RR used to be Range Rover made by Land rover, part of Land Rovers model line up.
Now days, Range Rover has different sub models. Sport, Evoque, the Velar, completely different models.
You used to think the full size RR was the flagship, now its name is used on sub models. Same as Discovery, they bring out a new Freelander replacement and call it Discovery Sport, it's nothing like a proper Discovery. Mistubushi follows with the Pajero Sport, nothing like a proper Pajero.
