Same gearbox as LR have used for quite a few years now, though potentially with slightly different ratios.
Which is great for getting a heavy van moving on an incline, but not something you want to lean on continuously while clambering around the rocks and ruts.
The state of the art 9 and 10 speed autos haven't convinced me they're a better choice than the ZF8 with high/low range for a truly versatile vehicle - meaning the full gamut from rock crawling to spending hours at 110km/h on the dual carriageway.
Interestingly the Bollinger all-electric 4WD uses a 2-speed gearbox... do we want to call that high/low range or just a 2-speed auto? Electric motors really do change the game :)

So Defer... gimme 8x2 in a mild hybrid, but start adding serious electric shove and suddenly I'm all ears on the gearing options.
