Observation re new defender.
Has anyone figured out why some mules are rear door mounted spares and others dont.

Hmm. They are mules and therefore not the real thing, so does it matter? You are speculating on a known mule (probably based on a RR Sport) - so who knows what is real, what is being tested and what is production?!!!
There are known knowns, known unknowns, and unknown unknowns.

I was hoping one may have a tailgate set up,but unfortunately that looks like a dream[bigsad][biggrin]
There is definitely not much vision out the rear window,let alone with the spare fitted
This could easily be a dual cab imo, but most likely still side opening if spare is on backQuote:
