Just a slight diversion...going back to 2011 and the particular DC100 in this photo, ignoring the general aesthetics of it, there are a few things to like about it like the good rim and and tyre combo, generally good ground clearance, approach/ramp over/departure angles, decent recovery points etc. If those general characteristics are carried over into the new Defender then there will be some hope.
It's fine if they want to capture the lifestyle market by adding modcons and low profile tyres (afterall that's where they'll make their money). Hopefully though, LR will also allow the vehicle to come in the guise of something more purposeful as alluded to by that old pic:
