Land rovers wont be able to drive through third world countries anymore? Well dressed regulated fuel environments only.
If they do not bridge the gap quick enough, the brand will be hollow real soon.
If Australia start to recycle their cars as well as Cuba, it wont be such a bad thing. EV conversions will be an option in Cuba too.
It is much better for the environment to hold onto older cars than roll over cars every 3 to 5 years. And when we talk big batteries even more so.
If we cut out the current crop of pretty hopeless EV"s and mongrel half fossil half electric jobbies, keep current vehicles serviced and in play and wait for the next crop of battery tech we would be doing better by the environment and hip pocket (for most people at least who only do say 20 000k per year taking into account changeover costs inc' depreciation versus modest gains in economy)
Cheers
The move to higher quality fuel has been delayed, and it is an election issue, but that can't be discussed here.
Staying with dirtier fuel means more people suffer from air pollution from vehicle emissions. Estimates of the number of emissions-related deaths in this country vary, but about 1000 a year seems to be in the ballpark.
So delaying better fuel means more deaths.
It also means this country misses out on getting the best vehicles.
There is a false view that Australia is a big country so vehicle emissions don't matter. Actually, most of us live in cities and that is where emissions are concentrated, so it does matter.
Yes, it does. Some hybrids can do 800ks.
Rear long travel air suspension seen properly for first time in Moab,Gwagon size comparo, rear mech sway, Poison spider trail.

That last shot of the suspension is super interesting. My D4 air springs have a straight, rigid strut that connects via a pin to the LCA. These Defender springs have moved the joint higher up with it sitting on some big (rubber?) mount on the LCA and the actual connection hidden inside the protective sleeve. And note that this is a pic of a fairly well extended strut, so those pieces must come pretty much together when the spring compresses.
Also, is that an anti-sway bar at the rear? I can’t see one of those on my D4.
That’s a big design change from previous EAS then, if the damper is separate to the air spring instead of being internal.
Anti-sway bar on rear worries me for articulation.
