A thought I had about the length of time to release this to market; the amount of engineering required to have a single platform able to accomodate 4 modes of drive (ICE/MHEV/PHEV/EV). I don't think that challenge is being attempted by any other manufacturer.
    Cheers,

BUT how much loadspace will 2020 have
    Any chance of rear seats?
We know LR are clever and innovative with seating layout so maybe possible or perhaps they are just banking on 6 seats being enough?

Perhaps the biggest issue will be fuel capacity - another LR with poor range with OEM tankage?

I think because the rear is high and square should be ok, much better than my RRC, but not as much as current defender.

If you look at rear door its huge, im guessing seats are a little more foreward than usual.

6 seats is too much for us, but I'm not complaining in 2 rows, especially if i get best in class departure.

Nah didnt know about it, thanks for sharing Won’t be retro....
If this defender does well @ tusk it will put a good EV factory option for all reserves.
There was some comments online of people seing the moab hybrid, saying it was so silent on the trails, there are certainly many times 4wding with windows down enjoying nature that i wished the engine was off.

Im sure we or the aftermarket will figure something out mate, with a positive attitude you can achieve anything as you know.

Well if nothing else this thread is great for its comedic value. LR sold just over 1370 vehicles in total during March here in ****sville, of that I couldn't find figures on their 'best selling' vehicle but considering Toyota sold over 17,000 of which over 4,600 were Hiluxes and Ford sold 6,100 vehicles of which 3,700 were Rangers really shows that LR are not a player here - and while I'm sure in other markets their market share is better (maybe) I'm not sure where this 'chunk' is going to come from that you speak of. Keep on dreaming, one day one may come true, but not this one.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.

I'm sure saying this thread is here just for comedic value would be quite offensive to many of the people that have put huge amount of hours into sharing information learnt..hmm.

What is ****sville ? Won’t be retro... Australia?

Did you notice the increase in sales in AU, UK and US last month over last year?

From what I am seeing there is nothing that will hold the new defender back from taking huge chunks out of other players markets.

No dreaming needed. Won’t be retro...Won’t be retro...

I’m sorry blackrangie, but I have to agree with Homestar on this one. (I may not have used his exact choice of words though)

Everything that I have read so far indicate that the new Defender will sell for a bare minimum of $60k

In my eyes that is a lot of coin, and puts it right in the middle of Hilux, Ranger, Navara, Dmax territory (I am only taking about utes).

LR are going to have to pull off a
miracle if it wants to steal market share in that segment.

Don’t get me wrong - I am eagerly awaiting the new Defender but (as I have said before) I highly doubt that I will be able to afford one - based on everything that has been said before (espresso UK prices).

I really hope that I am wrong.

    Some good points cheers

My comments are based high number of social media likes of tusk pic and pilots, what i have investigated and direct comments from my dealer, "we have had tonnes of interest" a few months ago that wasn't the case.

    Will be interesting for sure.
