Hopefully the extended delay on delivering the new Defender will mean that there won't be basic problems, like oil changes being required every couple of thousand kilometres.
Well if the oil is testing out fine, it doesn't need changing. This is why software needed to be updated.

If people want awesome a/c for all passengers get the 4way system.

Agree, Every car is going to have recalls and warranty issues after the public put the cars into real life scenarios over combined millions of ks. You just want the car fundamentally to be sound upon release, it seems with most models these days with JLR the fundamentals are sound.

There is nothing I have seen yet in the D5 that makes it fundamentally a bad choice.
Like with all other brands there are ideosyncrisies and a DPF system that needs understanding.

Fuel dilution was a big issue with petrol when the manufacturers went with direct injection but that's seems to be under control now.
The current issues with diesel all go back to the DPF and the regen.
As Daz said in your cut and paste, if they went Adblu we wouldn't be having this discussion.

The problem with fuel dilution, either petrol or diesel is that there is no safe level, any is bad in terms of wear and engine life and no oil made will cope with it.
Unfortunately most people will be blithely unaware unless a sensor activates, and if the engine has a sensor for it what does that tell you? ie the manufacturer is aware that engine has an issue. The current Landy engines appear to be prone to it, something they don't appear to have when installed in a Jag.
The only time prior to DPF that we had fuel dilution was either a dribbly injector or a crook O ring or rail with unit injectors.

The way things are going re emissions it really does look like the beginning of the end for diesels.

    Won’t be retro...

If these pics were illegally obtained should we be reproducing them here? I don't think so personally. Might pay to remove them.

    If.

No need to remove unless officially requested. It might be viral promotion, and nothing like the finished interior at all.

    ...

Looks a bit like the old D1 pre facelift dash.

Hopefully they have not gone with that gear stick position!

It looks like an EV to me. The ‘gear stick’ looks to only have P and D on it. No transmission tunnel.

Simplified Velar touch screen tech and retro binnacle. But it’s very beige and the steering wheel is ugly.

Looks nice and basic though - hose out!?

If that is really the Americana interior to appeal to the Yanks I'm out. I really hope that is a hoax.

    Cheers

No - if they were illegally obtained by the OP, then we should remove them - have reported it to see what others think and happy to go along with what is decided. I'm all for taking a peak, but don't want to leave the forum open to any potential issues. Will see.
