I agree the LandCruiser is not a flop, hence why I brought it up.
I was pointing out that saying the new defender will flop if it's not priced the same as a Hilux or Ranger is not factual imo.
There are many successful 4x4s priced between AU 70k to 100k
If you go after a higher price bracket you don't get as many buyers and you don't have to sell as many for the same profit.
I always find it interesting to ask people what they think the most expensive bottle of water you can buy would cost and how many they would sell per year.
JLR have plenty of other models that sell huge numbers around the world so they are not going to be chasing every price point with the new Defender, however I do believe it will come in under the D5.
Doom and boom: the surprise car brands crushing it in 2019 - Car News | CarsGuide
April 2019
"And it's a similar happy story for Jaguar, with that brand's 331 sales a handy 41 per cent more than March 2018, and its YTD figures up 38 per cent, too. Meanwhile, sister brand Land Rover's 1371 sales put it up 25 per cent on the same month last year."
Similar story in UK and US.
With the new Evoque, ipace, epace, velar, electrified everything by 2020 and the new defender this year amongst other things Land Rover will be smashing it within 12months imo.. this is good news for us has the more Land Rover do well with the new Defender the more models they will release no doubt.
