The D5 i think gets an unfair go in the looks department, with no offence to y62 owners, they are imo way more ugly from every angle than a D5, yet..when they have some decent barwork added they can start to look almost bearable and in some cases really quite good.(me eating humble pie)

So D5, ill hold my judgement for the D5 till it gets modded, will be very interesting to see what rhino come up with.

From a distance, with the plate centered,it will look very much like a Disco sport.

In fact, the easiest way to tell that the vehicle is a D5,particularly in moving traffic is to look at its rear.

As most of the brands latest models look very similar.

Anyway, back on topic,at least the new Deefer seems to look different from the other modern Lr's,which will definitely be a plus.

The Y62 is more comparable to a 200series. I don’t mind the exterior look and shape of either. But the interior/dash of the Y62 and the 200 series don’t appeal to me.

Also EAS takes D5 and other JLR models to another level.

But in all reality is Isnt really a serious off road touring 4WD "standard issue" although maybe with a Lot of ( Expensive) modifications it Could be a
contender But there are a lot of other "Brands" that are much better suited to this role.

The old series Landrovers and the Defenders were and ARE a serious off road tourers pretty much straight out of the box, Lets hope that JLR continue this tradition with the new Defender
Agree with most of that, but I would much rather take a pov spec D5, with some better wheels and tyres that everyone adds before going offroad (WITHOUT any other mods) on a big lap of oz than just about anything else out there. Efficient, reliable, most capable, comfortable, safe etc etc. But everyone's different. For sure i would have NRMA and warranty but i think it would be one of the best out of the box cars for the job. There is a reason the disco keeps wining 4x4 of the year so often.Won’t be retro...

Agreed, they kept the dip for that very reason.

Yes, am very optimistic about the new fender for many reasons, time will tell.

LOL ... no, it's Nissan's own work. It's the Infiniti version of the Y62.

BTW, the V8 in the Y62 sounds great.

Yep, the proportions are much better than the D1, even though the rear overhang should be worse off road. I never cared for the D1 shape at all.
The original RRC was just a gorgeous shape too.

And practical can be considered beautiful too.
I remember a number of years ago the Willys MB made the shortlist of the most beautiful cars of the 20th century, and IIRC it was voted on by car designers.

That's nothing superfluous about it, total form follows function.
