    EDIT - fixed picture link
looking at that D4 pic it seems to me the "Archie" is much the same ,just has no roof hump and different wing mirrors and some body wrap to try and hide a few details.

I don't mind if it looks more D4ish rather than another clone vehicle.

It would be good to check the plates, which would give an idea of engines these have.

Oh,the roof, more camouflage to keep us guessing

Or it could be a heap of electronics to trial them as google mapping vhicles

    All,smoke and mirrors.

The other odd thing I noticed was that those outer parts appear textured. It could be the wrap itself, but maybe they're some weird nod to chequer plate wing tops? I certainly hope not:

I'd be interested to hear everyone's thoughts on these points.
The bonnet bulge hasn't been visible before. The outline sketches always showed what looked like chamfering, but I suspect that that's the bonnet bulge we can now see.

Maybe it's a requirement of the design that you park across lines?

I think you may be right, but I still can't help feeling that the bonnet shut line is really odd. I was speculating more that the outer reaches of the main bonnet, below the bulge, may curve down below what turns out to be camouflage over the outer edges of the bonnet and the wing tops. However, I looked again at a picture of a Disco 5 engine bay, because I had a feeling there wasn't much located on the outer edges that would preclude fixed wing tops on the new Defender, and I noticed that the shut line curves outwards almost exactly in line with where the forward engine bay seal runs along the rear of the radiator support panel on the Disco 5. I still think that such a fussy shut line would be a styling disaster, create a complex bonnet pressing and lead to dented wing tops the same way they end up on an old Defender when worked on by a dealer tech. If you were going to do something like that, why not just place a straight shut line back from the leading edge of the 'bonnet' and fit a sort of composite nosecone like many modern cars? Surely that would be a cleaner solution (if still not great for styling), increase pedestrian safety and be more easily repaired / replaced in the event of a minor impact?

On an unrelated note, that's an interesting licence plate placement on the car on the left in blackrangie's latest post. I reckon it visually shortens and widens the whole car.
