I wonder if it would take much to make the 110 a two door. Coupled with the commercial variant that might make a decent overlander.

Base model Disco needs the 2 speed transfer as an added option .. I can't find how much difference that adds.
But an anomaly I noticed(only small, but still there!) .. the dealer delivery calculator I used for the Disco SD4 S model showed $3000 dealer delivery(as opposed to BR's $4000 for the defender!).
Also! on BR's quote, they also add GST to the $4000 dealer delivery charge, whereas using the drive away calculator they say $3000 dealer del incl GST.
So base model D240 D5 = about $1K more, but no 2 speed transfer.From LR website(for Vic)
- Discovery 19MY SD4 S VIC

And as already mentioned elsewhere .. probably not selling, so they're trying to throw them out with the old bathwater!
Defer will probably have a bit of extra cache attached to it .. will have the 'looks' for the wannabees too .. so may sell in slightly higher numbers for a short while .. why discount if it sells.
If it doesn't sell .. then expect price drops, almost certainly to below D5 levels.
If LR can get the new Defer confirmed as a fuel efficient vehicle(7l/100 or less combined) .. LCT won't apply for another $5(ish)K .. so a couple more options to save on LCT.
Could the D200 use that little fuel?
D240 D5 is listed as 7.5/7.6 lt/100 with the D240 .. so may come close if they tweaked the Defer right.
Arthur.
All these discos are giving me a heart attack!

Some MHEV pics, obviously this is not production, rather stripped back for photos i imagine, you can see cables hanging down etc.
I believe that's DCDC conv on right, bat on left.
Looks quite low so, still underfloor storage but maybe not as much on 110.
Challenge with drawer systems will be to access that space, maybe a hatch accessed from middle of car with fridge forward, I would put seldom used spares etc there. Thougts?![]()
S'funny, I often wondered about that with my D1 3 door & lo & behold they brought out a 3 door Commercial.
There was a stack of space once the rear seats were down so it wouldn't have been too difficult to build a flat floor in the back as well as install a Cargo Barrier behind the front seats.
Side Windows? Remove the glass & panel them in with Satin finish Stainless.
Then one could take their tradie vehicle anywhere.
Maybe I was before my time.![]()

The battery and controls certainly do look set down deep there
The blue box is more likely charge control, only two leads going to the grey box at right so unlikely to be DC-DC
Do you have info on the system at all
I would just assume that if the MHEV has integrated generator/ starter battery and a hairdryer supercharger and the battery is 48V they would just run all that blue cabling at 48V
Then the only voltage change is a small step down DC -DC to get to nominal 12V for the standard control systems to work ?
I like how compact that transfer case is
I wonder if it has been designed to have an electric motor bolted right up to the face for future EV models

I reckon you're on the money ther Steve, I'm pretty sure that is where the other LR PHEVs electric drive is hooked up to the drive train:
2018-range-rover-sport-phev-powertrain.jpg
There's a heap of room under there if someone ever decided to do long range tanks for the sport. I expect the D5 and Defender would be similar.
Edit: interesting that it goes from DC to AC for the drive motor
Cheers,
Sean
