I dont think LR have a vehicle for carrying dead dear any more.... instead I have heard they have the optional LandRover Carrion Rope, just tie the dead dear to the towbar and drag it home.

I'd go the solid one as it looks like it has a hatch for carrying long items. Or wait for a Milford (et al) offering which won't have such large diameter barwork...

If you were to pick one, which one and why?

Note both conform to same reg

Something else, for those that want to run an awning on passenger side, external storage box is only drivers side (AU)

If you get explorer pack and want to run the LR rooftop tent passenger awning would stop you accessing when its up.

    There is a few workarounds.

1.Order the LR rear inflatable awning.

    2. order everything separately except the external storage (not the pack) put ladder on drivers side, awning on passenger side.

    3. Order explorer pack, put ladder on passenger side, awning on drivers.(AU)

Who runs their awning on drivers side? Issues?

A bit of $10.00 1/2 inch proper rope(not that synthetic stuff) from bunnings does the trick, don't ask me how i know....

Then the smaller ones hang off the front bar.

Awning on drivers side means awkward access to rear door hinged on drivers side. Agree rooftop tent ladder needs to be on drivers side.

If it’s a real Landy you can throw a dead deer or roo in the back of the wagon. Or 12 bags of sheep poo.

So as you will be able to do that with the new Defender it is by your definition a "real Landy".

Not had a dead roo or deer in the back of my RRS but I have had the 12 bags of sheep poo so it must be a real Landy too.
