That's what satellites are for. Getting out of range of the mobile phone network is so damn nice, then my Garmin Inreach mini lets me maintain just enough contact for safety and to reassure the family.

Point taken, however I like the fact knowing the car will send automatically a signal in case of an accident (when in range). Same for the emergency buttons in the roof console. Assume, you got both buttons in your new Defender in the same spot as the remaining LR range? m

How ever did we manage before mobile phones? - it’s amazing we all survived the stone age huh…

If you want to play it safe and only go driving and camping where there’s reception I’m not going to argue but you’ll be missing out on 90% of what’s out there by doing so. I can’t think of too many campsites I like that have mobile reception to be honest. Not sure why you’d need a 4WD then either as all those places have sealed roads or good gravel - you might as well buy a Honda Civic.
