I think its still in beta testing, but the IIDTool now works on the new Defender.
You need version 3 though - not sure when that came out. There's a heap of info on it on the Defender2 forum.
Cheers,
Jon
I just got back from a trip with my mate who has a new Defender 110. He had several faults come up on the trip (no surprise). I have a disco 4 and tried my GAP tool but it was clearly not built for the Defender. NRMA likewise could not read the faults. What is the recommendation for a scan tool that is compatible with the current Defender? I did search but did not see anything relevant (and that might be my lack of computer skills?).

Just looked at the Defender2 Forum. A lot of discussion on the GAP tool there. My mate is looking at one by iCarsoft. Does anyone know about that tool. It is quite large and not as convenient to use as the GAP tool and probably does less but all he needs it for is to read and clear faiults. I warned him to never leave the city without a diagnostics tool and at least he is taking my advice.

What were the faults and was the vehicle stranded? Often these things will be self-clearing without any impact after restarting.
I'm sure I'll be leaving the city in mine!
From what I've read I'd be waiting for the GAP tool rather than the iCarsoft tool.

Did the faults make the car in go to not Limp mode or was it just a light on the dash with no effects on function ?

Hi Mike,
I've had an idea (dangerous territory as those who know me know)
Can you get your mate to get involved here at AULRO and share his experiences with us.
It's more useful than Facebook and you don't have to be the go-between.

GAP iid tool for unless Rovacom VCIQ is updated for the L663, which is unlikely given the poor support on the Blackbox forum pages.

I have been using the GAP Tool on the new Defender, so far its fine... BUT
The oil service reset wont reset and the customer has said the Dealer can't reset it either.
I have no doubt the GAP team are working on any new Land Rover models.
Their support is absolutely stellar in every way, anytime I've had technical issues (not with the GAP Tool) but general electronics they have been able to assist or at the very least point me in the right direction.
I would not risk using other tools that may or may not work that have at best very average support.
Regards
Daz
