i always find 4x4, car of the year thing such a load of rubbish.

show me the car in 10 years at least and see how great it is.

my bro when he is in the Perentie seems to pick a number of faults to which i point out that it is 35 years old and lets see how his 4x4 is when 35 years old.

but that wont happen, i seriously doubt any new vehicles will last 35 years on. all it will take is a ecu to fail and not be repairable with no replacements available and its done.
    Regards
    Daz

I have often thought the same. And a classic example was Wheels car of the year was awarded to Leyland P76 back in the day.

As a side note, we always called it a P38 as it was only half a car, which I thought was ironic when LR called their second generation RR a P38
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

    Which happened to a mate's Transit van,about 10yrs ago.

    ECU not available,and not repairable.

Not a great outcome as he paid good money for it, 6 months before the issue occurred.

In 1983 it was awarded to the Holden Camira. I stopped paying attention after that.

We had one for 11 months. Dad took it back to the dealer and told them precisely where they could insert it.
I specifically recall we were on the way to Kal when we heard on the radio there had been instances of the bonnets popping open. Not one of the more reliable vehicles we'd owned.

All I can say is “valve stem seals”. First foray into them. Never seen the issue so bad as with them. Smoke machine from the lights.

The company I worked for at the time bought them for some of the project managers.
One guy had a steep driveway at home that entered a level road, and when he went down onto the road, the vehicle fan would hit the shroud, and snap off the blades.Anyway with that issue and many others,by 12 months they were all replaced.Back to Dunny Dores.

A bit like when they went to Gemini Panel vans to save fuel.Sure the diesels were brilliant on fuel, and quite reliable, but way to small for what we needed, and didn’t like the weight we carried.Back to Holden panel vans, with the 253 in most of them.
