    Bottle jack/ jacking point adapter

There are 4 jacking points 2 each side front and rear. They appear to be steel and are 100 mm long and have a tapered profile

The wind-up scissor jack that LR provides is profiled to match these points. However a standard bottle jack won't. So I've fabricated an adapter from a 100x150x20mm 20t packing shim (Macsim).

There are two components each 100mm long and 60mm wide. The bottom piece is drilled to receive the top of the bottle jack and the top piece has a routed groove to match the jacking point profile.

    They are screwed together:

    Bottle jack meets jacking point:

(P.S. Jacking is an inherently risky undertaking. Copy and use this at your own risk!)

I haven't tried it but I've read that there are a couple of ways around roated images. (I can never remember which way to hold the phone to take a pic and I bet the way one holds it depends on whether one is left-handed or right-handed).:

    1. Edit them in the phone to roate them.
    2. Resize them slightly and that will do it.

I'll have to try both methods.

Thanks Ron. Solved. I opened each of the images in the computers basic native imaging software and then saved them as a copy overwriting the original....don't ask me why or how!

A facebook responder has correctly pointed out that there are 4 other points for jacking. These are located further in and not described in the owners guide. They are intended for use on hoists and trolley jacks. They could be used for bottle jacks as well but you have get further under the vehicle to get to them.

Interesting design that jacking point. Does it move / rotate at all to assist with the angle compensation as the vehicle moves?

I wonder if other LR models have other jacking points like those you mentioned, Mahn? I’ll have to check the L322.

It's fixed and doesn't rotate. I guess the profile allows the jacking point radius to rotate relative to the head of the scissor jack as the vehicle lifts without binding. My adapter has wriggle room to allow this movement.

Certainly the Discovery 5 is different and the L322 likewise.

Thanks for the file, id found the front two but was not aware of the rear two. I use a 3.0t low profile trolley jack and axle stands at home in the garage, and i am getting the adapters for the axle stand to sill jacking points off Amazon or similar, theres lots on there out of Delrin or HDPE that are suitable. i will also look out for bottle jack to sill adapters, as i also carry a 2t rated BJ as i dont trust the LR std offering.
